The SmallRig Cage for Sony FX30 and FX3 is designed to protect the camera and provide accessory mounting points. The modular cage consists of a NATO rail and a U-shaped cage. The NATO rail is secured on the top via two 1/4 inch-20 screws and removed to allow installing the original XLR top handle.
Construction
The U-shaped cage is fixed via 1/4 inch-20 screws on both sides and at the bottom to prevent twisting, with a cushion against scratches. At the battery door, there is a hinge arm that fits the camera curve for an improved grip experience for a little finger. A dedicated HDMI cable clamp protects interfaces to ensure stable signal transmission.
Versatile Mounting Options
Among its varied accessory mounts, 1/4 inch-20 holes support Magic Arm 2070; ARRI 3/8 inch-16 locating holes connect Top Handle 2165C or Monitor Mount 2903B. The top NATO rail supports Top Handle 3322, and the left one, Side Handle 2187B; 1/4 inch-20 locating holes at the top-left quarter and on the left side attach Rod Clamp 3598 for follow focus. Two 1/4 inch-20 holes on the right side allow for being securely mounted onto a quick-release plate for vertical shooting.
Compatibility
The cold shoe mount supports a microphone and LED light, and the QD port at the bottom fits the QD strap. An Arca-Swiss quick-release plate at the bottom can attach DJI RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, and RS 3 Pro directly, or a quick-release plate (height increase pad) for DJI RS 2, and RSC 2 gimbal and Arca-Type Quick Release Plate 3154. Both sides and the bottom have holes for Hand Strap 3848 and Shoulder Strap PSC2428. A magnetic spanner is also included for easy assembly and disassembly.
Note
Remove the top NATO rail before installing the original XLR handle. The top 1/4 inch-20 holes have a hole center distance of 27mm and are therefore incompatible with such accessories with a hole center distance of 18mm as a monitor mount.
