RICOH GR IIIx HDF Camera with Built-in Highlight Diffusion Filter and Zone Select AF (Black)

Ricoh Imaging is pleased to announce the launch of the RICOH GR IIIx HDF camera. Designed using the acclaimed RICOH GR IIIx as the base model, these premium compact cameras feature a newly developed Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF). With the exceptional image quality, flawless point-and-shoot operation, and outstanding portability that the GR series is known for, these new models allow the user to instantly engage the newly developed, built-in HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) with a single action. This special-effect filter diffuses highlight areas and creates a blurred effect along the image’s edges, making it possible to capture somewhat nostalgic images resembling those captured in film photography or vintage movies. This creative versatility expands the visual boundaries of snapshot photography, giving the user the option to shoot high-resolution, high-contrast images for accuracy and precision, or softer, more expressive images to create a sense of depth and emotion, depending on their subject or creative intention. This model also includes a new Zone Select AF function, which automatically sets the focus at the most appropriate point within the image area after the user shifts the 3X3 focus area to the desired zone, as well as the ability to pre-program up to three white-balance settings as the base white balance. These functions will also be available for all RICOH GR IIIx-series models using function-expansion firmware, which is scheduled to be released along with the market launch of the new RICOH GR IIIx HDF. The GR IIIx HDF has lens construction with 7 elements in 5 groups (2 aspherical lens elements). It has a focal length of 26.1mm (Approx. 40mm in 35mm equivalent focal length), and aperture F2.8-F16. The Focus Range (from lens face) is approximately 0.2m to infinity in Normal mode and approximately 0.12 m-0.24m in Macro mode.
Built-in HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) to Create Softer Light, More Expressive Images
The new model incorporates the newly developed HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) to emphasize highlights and produce mellow, softened images. Developed by taking advantage of RICOH’s advanced inkjet technology cultivated over the years, this special-effect filter is designed to diffuse highlight areas and create a blurred effect along the image’s edges, making it possible to capture somewhat nostalgic images resembling those captured in film photography or vintage movies. HDF can be instantly switched on and off with a single action, allowing the user to effortlessly alternate between two completely different visual expressions - clear, sharply focused images characteristic of the RICOH GR series, and softer light, more expressive images captured by the HDF - depending on the subject or creative intention.
New Default Setting for Fn Button and Update to Shutter-Release Button Color
The default setting of the Fn (Function) button has been changed to the HDF ON and OFF switching function, allowing the user to quickly engage the HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) with a press of the button. The color of the shutter-release button has been changed to dark silver to subtly differentiate the HDF models from other GR series models and to symbolize the effortless shift of visual expression.
Pre-Program White-Balance Settings as the Base White Balance
The user can pre-program up to three white-balance settings as the base white balance. It is also possible to couple the base white balance with the White-balance Fine Adjustment function.
Zone Select AF
The new models feature Zone Select AF, which automatically sets the focus at the most appropriate point within the image area, after the user shifts the 3X3 focus area to the desired zone.
